Director of Strategy and Implementation (DSI)

 

TOGETHER - SOUTH SURREY WHITE ROCK is a collective network of community-informed mental wellness innovators and outreach providers, working collaboratively to carry out a community inspired vision for mental wellness. 

 

The DSI will support the establishment of a new society, and implement the TOGETHER’s vision, supported by a volunteer stewardship group (Catalyst Group), and the incoming TOGETHER Board.

 

The DSI is a strong collaborator who will be able to work with high levels of ambiguity, while implementing a vision driven by the community. They will cultivate a culture of trust, confidence, and understanding; guided by TOGETHER’s values. Collaborating with a deeply committed group of volunteers, they will keep the community at the centre of the work. The DSI will thrive in a distributed leadership model, understanding the value of shared leadership, and its ability to empower people at all levels to develop and implement innovative solutions, bringing TOGETHER’s vision to life. 

 

The DSI will report to the TOGETHER Board.

In this role, you will: 

  • Establish the administrative structure for a new society, including supporting the development of by-laws, recruitment & orientation of Board Members, organizational protocols and policies as assigned.

  • Manage the scope, schedule, budget, and tasks associated with setting up a new society. 

  • Execute major goals and objectives for the organization, based on the organizational values. 

  • Implement evaluation tools, and ensure ongoing reports to funders are completed as required.

  • Monitor and manage organizational budgets, including mitigating variances, and producing monthly reports. 

  • Oversee the organizational operations, including recruitment and support of volunteers, and a part- time administrative assistant.

  • Develop a communications strategy in collaboration with Catalyst Group, including ensuring website and  social media is maintained. 

  • Contribute to the development of a  fundraising plan, and oversee its implementation.

  • Produce Requests for Proposals (RFP) and hire subcontractors as directed. 

 

  • Establish a new public facing presence for the organization, including setting up a new office, maintaining outreach materials, and managing other inventory.  

  • Represent the organization and build relationships with the community as assigned/authorized at a variety of events and meetings through the year.

  • Provide support to the Catalyst Group, and the Board of Directors, as well as, project working groups to implement the project activities, and ensure timelines are met. 

 

What it takes: 

  • An understanding of existing mental health systems, as well as systems change work.

  • Interest in contributing to innovation as a core value. 

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to form authentic and reliable connections with all stakeholders. 

  • Familiarity with social media management, and comfort using related technologies. 

  • Minimum 5 years experience working at a high level with start up organizations and/or within complex organizations within the health/social service/education sectors.

  • Excellent decision making skills, ensuring project timelines are met, and are within budget. 

  • Masters level education, and/or combined education and experience within a related field.  

  • A vehicle for local use is required.

  • Weekend and Evening Availability to support outreach activities & events. 

 

Term

12 month Employee Term Agreement – April 2024 through April 2025, with further term renewals evaluated each year.

 

Salary

  • Annual Salary $70,000 - $88,000 range, depending on experience. Includes 2 weeks paid vacation. 

  • Hours will be flexible based on needs at 28 hours per week. 

  • Hybrid work opportunities may be available, but regular in person work will be required, not suitable as a remote position.  

  • This role is considered a Management position under BC Employment Standards Act.
